Virtual Lewa Safari Marathon Challenge 2020
Organised by Tusk

Event Day Hub – 27 June 2020

A massive thanks to the thousands who have taken part in the Virtual Lewa Safari Marathon so far!  You’ve joined a global community of runners, walkers and riders around the world have joined forces for a common cause to raise vital funds for conservation in Africa.  Whether you covered 5km or 42km, your support has been amazing.

You came out to make this your own, on streets, lanes and tracks from Peru to New Zealand, joining some famous faces along the way. Your support has helped us raise almost £200,000 so far and shows what can be achieved when we come together in solidarity with the dedicated men and women on the frontlines of conserving Africa’s unique wildlife. Thank you.

It’s not too late to take on the challenge and to fundraise or donate for this crucial cause! Please register now if you’d like to join the global community and play your part in tackling the devastating impact of Covid-19 on our project partners.  Follow #TuskLewaSafariChallenge on social media for more updates over the coming weeks.

We’re all in this together.

Okapi Conservation @okapiproject
Look closely! One of our educators, Faustin Mbuza, saw this #okapi in a field in Epulu. A rare opportunity to see an okapi in the #wild. The okapi watched him cautiously for about a minute as it slowly disappeared into the forest.

Crowned sifaka survive mostly in fragmented forest in northwest Madagascar. Small populations have been discovered along the central highlands where @impact_mada have worked with communities to manage more than 3,700ha of forest - leading to a 22% growth in the sifaka population. https://t.co/823FDh5D9k
“As the world comes together to tackle the impact of the coronavirus, please join me by participating in the Virtual Lewa Safari Marathon. I am very pleased to back Lewa and Tusk in their efforts to raise the much needed funds to protect Kenya’s wildlife and provide vital support for communities and schools across my country in this time of crisis.”
