If Covid-19 could be said to have had any silver linings, one must be the incredible global community of conservation supporters brought together by the Virtual Lewa Safari Marathon over the last two years.
That’s why we’re pleased to announce that a virtual race will be taking place alongside the in-person marathon at the Lewa Conservancy this year.

Lace up your shoes; plot your route; it’s time to #RunWild
Organised by Tusk in partnership with the Lewa Conservancy and Safaricom, the virtual marathon will allow wildlife enthusiasts, no matter where they are, to take the challenge anywhere around the world.
Virtual runners can run or walk any distance to get involved, either splitting their distance across multiple days, or joining the big event on 25th June to run with our participants in Kenya.
Entry for virtual participants is free, with a suggested donation £25 / $40 / Ksh2,500 to support the causes funded by the marathon, including protecting critically endangered wildlife and providing access to education and healthcare in local communities across Kenya. All participants who complete their distances and have donated and/or fundraised will be eligible for a Virtual Lewa Safari Marathon e-certificate.
Active fundraising is also encouraged, with virtual participants who raise more than £350 / $500 / €430 / Ksh50,000 winning a special print of an iconic photograph by renowned wildlife photographer David Yarrow.
