Conservation organisations in Kenya, and across the African continent as a whole, continue to face an uphill climb to recover the conservations gains lost as a result of the pandemic’s devastating social and economic impact. As a result, the funds raised by the Lewa Safari Marathon are more important than ever to the people and communities on the front line of protecting Africa’s precious wildlife.

This incredible sporting event has become one of Kenya’s most well-loved institutions, consistently topping bucket lists for marathons to complete in a host of publications, including Runner’s World and the Financial Times.

Organised by Tusk in partnership with Lewa and Safaricom, the marathon takes place on the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. The event has given runners from around the world the opportunity to run alongside iconic and critically endangered wildlife, including Grevy’s Zebra, Lions, Elephants and Giraffes, for over 20 years.

Thanks to our participants, we have been able to support the recovery of Kenya’s black rhino population from the brink of extinction and protect the world’s critically endangered Grevy’s zebra, as well as provide healthcare, water, improved infrastructure and education programmes for communities across Kenya.

This year’s event invites global runners to complete a half or full marathon, with a 5km option available for our younger athletes. Find out more entry fees and fundraising targets on the Race Information page on the website.

Take part in the event of a lifetime. Lace up your shoes. Packs your bags. It’s time to Run Wild.
