About the Lewa Safari Marathon
The Lewa Safari Marathon was originally scheduled for Saturday 27th June, but in light of the global COVID19 pandemic, the event will now be staged in June 2021.
In its place we are inviting runners to take up our ‘Virtual’ Lewa Safari Marathon Challenge to run (or walk) either 5km, 10km, 21km or 42km this June to help raise vital funds for a range of wildlife conservation projects, schools, clinics and community programmes across Kenya.
Instigated in August 2000 and organised by Tusk, our marathon attracts participants to compete in an internationally acclaimed event and to run through one of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife conservancies. Regarded as one of the world’s top ten “must do” marathons, runners of all nationalities and abilities take part. The event has become a major sporting and social event in Kenya with individuals and corporate teams enjoying an unforgettable experience running alongside some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife and witnessing first-hand the impact of the funds raised.
Since its inception the event, which includes the option to run either a full or half marathon, has raised over $7.5m for projects across Kenya.
See the video below to gain a good idea of what overseas runners can expect to experience. And if you would like to register your interest to run in 2021, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
